Bachelor of Science in Nursing
My name is Charlie Dietrich and I have been a registered nurse since 2011. Nursing is a second career for me. I started my journey as a volunteer at a local hospital and am now working as an ER nurse at Munson Medical Center. Not only have I learned much from a clinical perspective I have also gained a lot of knowledge of my profession in nursing through the Ferris State University BSN program. There were many areas of nursing learned through the RN to BSN program listed in the FSU website.
The FSU website defines the BSN by the following outcomes :
Accomplishing the outcomes listed above I feel that I have become a more well rounded nurse for not only the benefit of the people that I take care of but my own. The one constant that I have found in nursing is the continuance of learning. I feel that I have developed the necessary skills to take my nursing skills to a higher level of care. My portfolio has allowed me to reflect on my past experience and to look ahead to a more satisfying career in nursing. The BSN program has given me a better understanding of what professional nursing entails by following the Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing and being the safety net for my patients. The healthcare industry is constantly changing and as a professional nurse I am prepared to actively participate and promote change for the better of the patients, healthcare facilities, and healthcare professionals including myself.
